The Scheme:

The project for the Notting Hill Genesis Housing Association relates to fire safety upgrades so to ensure the properties under their management are compliant with the Building Regulation Approved Document B. The overall objective being to ensure the Approved Document B requirements are compliant at each property by surveying and analysing the historic compartmentalisation between residential properties and the means of escape provision. Where the compartmentalisation is inadequate the company provides Consultancy advice as to the most appropriate rectification measures and then engage and project manage specialist contractors to carry out necessary remedial works to a certifiable standard.

Our Role:

The company were appointed to carry out the surveying and reporting on the condition of the fire escape provision and compartmentation in existence at the properties. From there the company were then engaged and project managed specialist fire stopping contractors and fire door contractors to ensure remedial works were installed to the required standards.

Challenges:

Providing solutions to poor construction scenarios to ensure the requirements of Approved Document B are achieved. Facilitating the client with innovative solutions to scenarios where approved Document B requirements could not be achieved with fire stopping techniques alone. Management of the health and safety aspects of construction remedial works in residential occupied buildings.
