The Scheme:
The scheme consisted of fitting out an 18 metre high warehouse building with a multi-tiered racking installation and associated services to create a box archive storage facility. The racking installation was provided over ground and five elevated storage levels with external escape staircases. Ancillary welfare and warehouse office / data entry space is also provided located under the racking, co-ordinated with the racking structure to provide an open-plan space. The racking installation was provided with an energy efficient lighting control system, emergency lighting and first aid firefighting facilities. The whole area has a sprinkler system to roof, in-rack and in-aisle complying with NFPA 13 and in addition, all area shave aspirating smoke detection at roof and intermediate levels to provide a very early warning capability.
Our Role:
The company provided a detailed design and project management capability including cost control and site management. The company produced detailed and fully co-ordinated designs for the scheme including the racking system, lighting and small power provision, gas fired heating and energy saving destratification fan installation, aspirating smoke detection, sprinkler protection and all fire system interfaces so that the various elements act as a single composite system. The company also managed the construction process, including contractor appointments and approvals and in addition undertook the cost management of the fullscheme and client reporting. The company managed the overall construction process, including co-ordination of construction sequencing, site safety, delivery, building code compliance and operated a zero snagging policy to great effect.
