• M&E, fire, security and public health facilities for new family respite accommodation centre.

• Electrical switch gear and sub-main distribution to medical equipment, low voltage power supply lighting and emergency lighting, security and fire detection systems.
• Access control, CCTV, assisted toilet alarm system, audio entry system, TV system provision and antenna installation, structured cabling, telephone services (copper and optic fibreline).
• Fire alarm system in accordance to BS 5839 and BS 5588 to L1 standard, smoke detectors, multi-sensors, heat detectors, manual call points.
• Noise survey conducted in accordance with BS 4142:2014 ‘Methods forrating and assessing industrial and commercial sound’.
• Rainwater recovery management system.
• Testing, commissioning and training for all installed services.


The Role:

The company were instructed to provide a complete building services design consultancy service for new respite accommodation at the Moor Lane Centre. This facility provides an integrated service for children with disabilities. Comprising of a single storey accommodation block with 8 bedrooms for SEND visitors, associated bathrooms, staff suite and living / dining areas.

Challenges & Collaboration:

The facility was considered a location where particular risk of fire exists: BD2-low density of occupation with difficult conditions of evacuation. It was critical therefore that all installations were made in accordance with the regulatory criteria associated with each service. The company worked closely with the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames’ local and building control personnel to provide a safe and effective solution.
