The Cyxtera data centre in London (formally known as the Savvis Data Centre) features 37,500 square feet of raised floor.

The Scheme:
The scheme was a construction of a new data centre in London which completed the latest phase of the company’s expansion plans of eight data centres. The data centre has a chilled water air conditioning system, two separate electricity sub-stations, biometric access control and state of the art fire protection and fire detection systems and over 200 CCTV cameras.
Our Role:
The company were originally engaged by EYP Mission Critical facilities for the design of all fire related systems including concept design, detailed design and all associated calculations. Duties also included the systems approvals by the local authorities and client insurer. Following the design and approval process the company were engaged by the main contractor to providea full turn key service and install, test and commission the fire systems and handover to the client
Challenges & Collaboration:
The biggest challenge was to fully appreciate the complex logistics associated with such a large-scale development whilst working as part of a multi-discipline design team.The company took a lead role in the building services co-ordination to ensure the installations were installed in the most cost efficient and end user friendly way for future operation and maintenance
